What Makes This Ewe Special?
Just like our triplet ewe at the auction, this ewe is also one of the most beautiful and fertile ewes in our herd at the moment. With triplets that had a total birth weight of 9.7 kg, this ewe’s genetics are also a true money-maker. She was pregnant with CHIEF (a Clynton Collett Superior Genetics ram) and gave birth to two ewe lambs and one ram lamb. Unfortunately, the ram lamb died at the age of 20 days. We suspect one of the ewes stepped on him. The two ewe lambs were weighed on 13 September 2023, and had a total weight of 46 kg (with an average weight of 23 kg). At that stage, they were just two months and eight days old.
Why Are We Selling Her?
We aim to bring the LANDRANI® Meatmaster herd to Studbook Status SP as quickly as possible, which has forced us to make some difficult decisions. One of these decisions was to gradually phase out our herd- and the “Appendix A” registered ewes. After that, we will move on to our status B and C ewes. We are convinced that this ewe can make a valuable contribution to a young Meatmaster farmer who is serious about good genetics for his herd. This is our way of giving a little back to the genetic pool outside our own herd.
